Unemployment participation rate chart

In the following chart, we see the longer-term view and we can see that in zone 5 the official unemployment rate stopped tracking the employment rate and decreased much more sharply than the employment rate justifies. This is primarily due to a falling labor force participation rate. Employment-to-population, labor-force participation, and unemployment rates: For the labor-force participation rates and employment-to-population ratios, we use the American Community Survey (ACS), while for the unemployment rate we rely on the Current Population Survey (CPS). The ACS has the advantage of being a larger survey with better US Unemployment Rate table by year, historic, and current data. Current US Unemployment Rate is 3.50%.
